Helicopters Offer Three Unique Ways to Transport Cargo

Smooth and Safe Loading and Unloading

With our helicopters we primarily transport technical personnel to and from wind parks. However, at the same time our helicopters are the most capable tools to transport cargo from A to B. The Leonardo AW169 and AW139, both can lift and transport heavy loads of up to 1.5 tons. Beyond the sheer ability to lift very heavy loads, the handling of a load is the key advantage when using a helicopter. With the hoist, each of our helicopters can lift loads of up to 249 kg from the ground directly into the cabin. A hoist operator, in cooperation with ground crew, can manage a very smooth and safe loading and unloading of the cargo. By that, loads can be placed directly onto a wind turbine generator.

1. Internal Load

This is where the cargo is carried inside the helicopter’s cabin. The cargo is loaded and secured on the floor of the cabin and transported to its destination.

2. Hoist Operations

This is where cargo is lifted from the ground utilizing a hoist and placed into the helicopter cabin or lowered from the cabin to the ground. This method is particularly useful in situations where there is limited access to the cargo.
